The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has changed the way it will pay for dialysis care. The Prospective Payment System (PPS) will be phased in starting January, 2011 and continue through 2014. The new rule also adopts three quality measures pertaining to hemodialysis adequacy and anemia management for an ESRD Quality Incentive Program (QIP) to be used as part of the program performance standards and measures.
To learn more about how the new bundled payment may affect you visit Dialysis Patient Citizens and download a copy of the Dialysis Patients’ Guide to the Medicare ESRD Bundle brochure.
